  1. The Fifth Element
The film was released on may 7, 1997 by the studio Gaumont Film Company (France)
The plot is about an antagonism between the "good" and "evil". Every 5,000 years the powers of chaos - "The Great Evil" appears in the cosmos and attempts to destroy all life throughout the unverse. The mysterious Mondoshawan race arrives in ancient Egypt in 1914 to retrieve a powerful weapon from the pyramid which was excavated. This weapon consists of four stones which represent four powers: fire, water, wing and earth. They return later in 2263 to help a New-York taxi driver Korben Dallas and father Vito Cornelius to save the universe from being absorbed by Evil

    The Main Characters are:
Korben Dallas (Bruce Willis) - a New-York taxicab driver, who served in the space navy and demobilized. Now he works in a taxi.

Leeloo (Milla Jovovich) - one of Mondoshawans, who came on rescue of humanity.

Priest Vito Cornelius (Ian Holme)- the current holder of the "key"(which is able to open an Egyptian temple of aliens)

David (Charlie Creed-Miles) - an apprentice of Vito Cornelius

Jean-Baptiste Emanuel Zorg (Gary Oldman)- wealthy and greedy industrialist Of Earth, who allied himself with Great Evil

Rubi Rhod (Chris Tucker) - interstellar media personality. He has his own show both on radio and tv

The film is great. Mostly because of brilliant acting, the cast was great as well as sets and decorations. Most of all I liked New-York city of 23rd century with its modern warfare, flying cars, political satire combined with the philosophical question "What this is all about ?"

The movie is set on Earth at first in New-York, then in space-hotel and after in Egypt.

Well, I guess all the features of the film are great mostly acting, direction (Luc Besson is a great director), script and soundtrack are also outstanding

I suppose this film appeals to a great amount of people partially because it is a philosophical movie but it is still oriented on great masses of people.
For example, Gary Oldman is great in the role of mean and cynical industrialist who cares nothing money and the idea of life and chaos. He is a big fan Of Friedrich Nietzsche's philosophy as he refers to the statement:"You can't make an omelette without breaking a pair of eggs". Which means that destruction creates something new on the place of something what is destroyed.

  2. THE FIFTH ELEMENT
The Film was released in on 7 may, 1997 on the studio Gaumont (France)

The plot is about struggle between two sides :"The Good" and "Evil". The "Evil"is represented as all-absorbing dark power who intends to destroy all life (genocidal power).Every 5,000 years it reappears in the cosmos and standart means of fighting are useless against it, 'cause it is a darkness incarnate and violence only empowers it.
To stop the alien race Mondoshawans created special weapon of life to stop it consisting of four elements: the fire, the earth, the water, the wind.

Korben Dallas (Bruce Willis) - a former special forces officer demobilized and now working as a taxicab driver.

Leeloo (Milla Jovovich) - one of mondoshawans who sent to Earth to stop violent threat of annihilation.

Priest Vito Cornelius (Ian Holme) - a vicar who has the so-called "key" which can open the temple in Egypt.

    David (Charlie Creed-Miles) - Cornelius's apprentice

Ruby Rhod (Chris Tucker) - a popular radio talk show host

Jean-Baptiste Emanuel Zorg (Gary Oldman) - greedy and cynical industrialist

Mostly I remember the epic atmosphere about the action, the sets, decorations and most of all - the acting.New-York of the 23rd century with its warfare, flying cars, political satire combined with philosophical idea - "What this is all about?"

The movie is set on Earth and space-hotel.

I suppose all the features of the movie are great, especially the acting and directing. The soundtrack and script are brilliant too.

This film is devoted to big amount of people, partially because the philosophical idea here was given popular form,i.e. it is explained in more simple language. For example, Gary Oldman is perfect in the role of Zorg.Zorg is cynical and and positions himself beyond good and evil, thus he is a big fan of Friedrich Nietzsche as he says: "You can't make an omelette without breaking a pair of eggs", which means that chaos by destructing smth. old and obsolete can create smth. new and powerful.

  3. In the year 2000 alone, Mel Gibson portrayed a colonial-times rebel in "The Patriot," and now in Nancy Meyers' new romantic comedy "What Women Want." Mel Gibson has slick, suave charm and electric charisma in the role of a self-confident advertising executive. All of his seemingly natural talents combine to create a funny, entertaining character named Nick Marshall. The adorable Helen Hunt has the same amiable traits as her irresistible co-star as she lights up the screen with a gentle personality and glowing elegance. With a respectable supporting cast, including Marisa Tommei, Alan Alda, Lauren Holly, and Bette Midler, it is hard to imagine how "What Women Want" could have failed to entertain audiences.
Nick Marshal obviously does not know what women want. He was raised as a testosterone-based bachelor, with the idea that he is the world's gift to all females. As a rich executive on the verge of a big promotion from his boss, Dan Wanamaker (Alan Alda), he is not pleased when a young, ambitious woman named Darcy Maguire (Helen Hunt) gets the position instead of him. To make matters worse for Nick, his ex-wife (Lauren Holly) has just remarried, leaving him their somewhat rebellious fifteen year old daughter for two weeks, and his attempts to bed a coffee shop employee named Lola (Marisa Tomei) are continuing to fail.
Everything changes for Nick after he experiences an accidental electrical shock that leaves him with the ability to read the minds of any female person. He abruptly pays a visit to his former marriage counselor (Bette Midler) who wakes him up on his unique gift that could be used to his advantage. He immediately takes charge of his new gift; it is interesting, funny, and always amusing to witness his reactions to women's personal thoughts and desires. The screenwriters take full use of the comic material, and use it selectively and wisely; the humor never gets in the way of the movie's message about a modern-day ladies man. By the end of the movie, Nick is a much better person than he was at the beginning of the story.
"What Women Want" is written with a sharp edge; the dialogue is poignant and sassy, the characters are witty, sexy, and often hilarious. However, there is also a positively sweet sentiment holding all of the material together and helping the story flow smoothly. There is plenty of effective comic content here, naturally revolving around Nick's ability to read the women's minds. The movie also develops Gibson's character well, and the lessons he learns about women are never too preachy or emotional to turn audiences off to the light-hearted humor. I also liked the unique direction by Nancy Meyers, whose style is keen and slick, sometimes taking the point of view of the woman in focus, allowing us to experience a variety of perspectives.
"What Women Want" falls into the usual pattern of concluding in a conventionally sweet, happy ending. The final romantic sequence feels contrived and unconvincing, unsettling, like a meet cute during a disappointing finally. Even the smiling faces of Helen Hunt and Mel Gibson cannot save a conclusion that is confusing and perplexing.

I have always loved musicals for their beauty, positivity, brightness.

Moulen Rouge has proved that musicals can be not only positive with a happy end, but also about tragedy of love.

"Moulen Rouge" is a candy. In bright, red, shining, rustling, with gold spangles to a foil. And inside gentle, milk chocolate with a wafer, a creamy stuffing and a small nutlet. This film the present work of art. It is the whole composition from magic songs, delightful actors, flickering scenery and Love … Love which exceeds all! It is the most romantic film. There are no forces to connect all words together when you describe "Moulen Rouge".
Probably, the film is filled by banalities about eternal love both and an excessive pomposity, but all the same after a film it would be desirable to believe that the love exists. «Show should proceed, despite of everything». And is our life unless not show?

The actor's structure impresses. Thin and in at one time magnificent Nicole. Sensual and gentle Evan. Semisights, semiphrases. Delightful game of MCGregor and Kidman forces to rise and applaud simply. Their pair looks so organically, so truthfully that forces to believe in love of all — from romanticists to cynics. Positively and brightly begun musical has outgrown in a drama about tragic love in which sincerity, I will repeat, it is not necessary to doubt.

Each scene causes a shiver and goose pimples on all to a body. Scenes where Sateen and Christian were singing together are especially impressionable. And the scene on a roof is at all romanticism and true love top. The excellent cutting of various songs about love from Beatles to Celine Dion — is magnificent!!! Moulen Rouge differs from all other musicals that songs are put in the fullness of time. There is no this senseless disorder. Ah, what there words! «I want to die with your kiss on lips …».

Bright dance a cancan where all of them have played theater before the selfish duke, forces to smile, even there was a desire to rise and together with them to start to dance.

  6. [Continuation. It seems to me,that my review is too huge for your blog:)))))]

Red eyes from tears, but cold and seriously sight. Already goose pimples on a body run from this bewitching game. Suits and scenery. For it, of course, separate thanks. All dresses of Sateen are magnificent. Majestic red color, a hard corset and a deep decollete excellently looks on Nicole. Expensive and smart ornaments. Weight of bright paints in scenery. Weight any small, but very important details. All it makes a full picture of the most expensive and prestigious theater of France.
The ending. This film can't be finished, after all it about love. And the love is eternal. It is a pity and is very sad in the end, but to present other ending, for such film it is impossible. As it is well opposed petals of roses, an ovation, a spangle, a song about love and death … the Most beautiful death which only it is possible to present. But show must go on … P.S. My review can will seem to you pathos and too exaggerated. But to speak about "Moulen Rouge" in another way it is impossible.

I will not be afraid this word is a masterpiece! Scenery, songs, dances, actors …. Especially a voice of MCGregor — I (in a voice) have fallen in love with it. And at Nicole is too the shaking. Beautiful, strong and at execution of slow songs about love that causes tears.

I am ready to argue and assert up to the end that the musical of Moulen Rouge is the best in the genre. A successful interlacing of bright dances, heart-breaking songs and scenes, love, death.

This film will be pleasant to all — and to the romanticists believing in true love, and to pessimists who consider that the love isn't present. However, maybe, after that film they will believe, what the love exists.

  7. The Other Boleyn Girl
This film is a screen version of a great novel written by British author Filippa Gregory. It was released in 2008 by BBC Films in Great Britain and was dubbed in Russian. The film is by well-known producer, Justin Chadwick.

The Other Boleyn Girl deals with the story of two sisters, two fates and one big love. Anna and Mary struggle for attention and favour of the king, Henry VIII. Though two sisters have an intimate relations with the king, but only one can mount the throne for short reign, sudden finishing under the axe of executioner.

Natalie Portman (Beautiful Girls, Anywhere but Here, Star Wars prequel trilogy) is excellent in the role of Anna. The role of Mary is played to perfection by Scarlet Johansson, who also starred in the memorable Lost in Translation, North, Girl with a Pearl Earring. Eric Bana creates a true -to-life image of Henry VIII.

What is the most memorable about The Other Boleyn Girl is a brilliant play of actors, who completely create the atmosphere of that time, wonderful costumes and superb stage scenery. The scenes are shot in lovingly recreated England in the Middle Age.

Personally, I think this picture is worthy of Oscar Award!!! It has left a deep and lasting impression on me. Exciting plot, captivating play, fascinating costumes can't leave anybody cold.

  10. Gone with the Wind. 1939

Gone with the Wind, released at december 15, 1939 (Atlanta premiere),january 17, 1940 (United States)
It is a romantic, but at the same time vividly dramatic and instructive story. It is a screen version of a great novel written by Margaret Mitchell.
The plot of this story is basing on life and experiences of the main character - Scarlett O'Hara, as she grew from a young woman into the responsibilities of adulthood. It is about her wins and falls, about her growth of personality, big love, betrayal, patriotism and a lot of others important things in life.
On the other hand, Gone With the Wind sweeps across the Old South, the Civil War and Reconstruction.
    Directed by Victor Fleming
    Produced by David O. Selznick

The film stars Vivien Leigh as Scarlett O'Hara(it is her debut role) and Clark Gable as Rhett Butler (my favourite).
Acting is brilliant. Especially, Clark Gable creates a true-to-life image of hadsome, selfconfident, very strong and smart man.
Hattie McDaniel as Mammy - was an American actress and the first African-American to win an Academy Award. She won the award for Best Supporting Actress for this role.
Music by Max Steiner. It sounds gripping and absorbing and makes an impression from the scene deeper.
Gone with the Wind was the first film to get more than five Academy Awards. Of the 17 competitive awards which were given at the time, Gone with the Wind had 13 nominations. It was the Winner of 10 Academy Awards. (8 regular, 1 honorary, 1 technical)

  14. Breakfast at Tiffany's

Breakfast at Tiffany's was directed by Blake Edwards and was released at October 5th,1961. The film was nominated for 5 Academy Awards and it was the winner of two of them.

This amusing comedy tells us about the life of young, beatiful girl Holly who lives in New York. Her life is full of parties, presents, surprises. She enjoys such kind of living and dreams about rich husband. On the one hand holly looks like rather silly girl, but on the other hand she is prudent and sly. She isn't so naive like you can think watching this film. But then something in Holly's mind changes and she understands that it is might be something more then possession of riches, jewelery, that all she need is another man, not wealthy, but sincere, kind. She realised that she wouldn't be happy living in golden cage.

The role of eccentric Holly Golightly is played to wonderfull Audrey Hepburn. She gave a convincing, memorable, brilliant portrayal of this girl and created true-to-life image. This is one of my favourite actress and she is unforgettable and magnificent in all her films. And the role of Holly Golightly was one of the brightest in her filmography.

The most memorable of this film is the great work of actors, director, camera-man. While watching this film, you can't stop admiring this period of time shown in it. The fashion of 50s was really very beautifull: dresses with inflated waistline, fluffy hair, large sun glasses.
Also I admire the film's soundtrack. "Moon river" song performed by Audrey Hepburn was a brilliant addition to the film.

Breakfast at Tiffany's is beautiful, kind film. It raises the best emtions. There is not cruelty in this comedy but only love and freedom. It is worth watching by everyone who is interested in the world cinematograph because this film has taken its place in the hearts of several generations of people.
